just want some people to finally settle an argument ive had with a buddy

anyways he is trying to convince me that "kbps" is industry-standard terminology for kilobits per second, and that nobody uses kb/s. (quote: kbps is 99% more popular than kb/s)

anyways i know this is kind of a dumb topic with so many people confusing bits and bytes in transfer speeds, but could i get at least some people to post here, saying your viewpoint on whether or not kb/s is a "rare" way of writing it or if you think they both mean the same thing and are both widely used.
