For further Clarrification.
The guy is hosting on 2 VPS's, not reseller accounts as the OP has insinuated
Still, bad business ethics, don't hide behind a VPS.0

hi everyone,
i thought i post here on behalf of jonny and luckysplace.
i had to move all there accounts on to my server.
and this lewis refused to give us any backups took me 2 days to get backups after many complaints and tracing the right people.
first off his backups was disabled in whm which prevented moving account,
cpanel move would fail, and he tried everything to stop people moving from his server.
he even tried to ask me for my root access to my webservers, no one needs this except me and tech support (theplanet)
i would not trust this guy at all, i have msn logs of some of the chats i had with him trying to get these backups.
he needs to be reported. and his using ebay to con people.
the worst thing in business is to charge cheaper then anyone else, its not the cost people want but support, and good service.
sice moving quite a few of his clients reffered to me they all been impressed with the serice i offer and now they all can get on with the websites.
with little downtime.
thanks
steve0

I agree to the host suspending the account with the MP3's on as this is a standard action any host would take upon finding copyrighted material on a users account... however...
Did he forget to suspend himself for SELLING and hosting STOLEN templatemonster.com templates? I think not.
How do I know about that? My friend was told he downloaded the whole collection from IRC by the host himself. And that is most probably not everything he has stolen and sold onto people.
Also, for those who wanted the URL to the german support team / server management he uses, it is dedicatedplace.com
Glad to see people support my views on this host, and I accept it was my own fault for even thinking of signing up to this guy!0

Hi There Steve.
Your right he does need reporting. But who to.
My site has improved a great deal since moving over to your servers with his servers i lost a few members and since moving over have gained a few more. Some on classifieds some on chat etc on main page alone theres 28 but theres more between the other sections of site. Hats off to Lewis for trying to get some pocket money at his age but i think he needs to get some education first.
Its experience he lacks.0

he didn't suspend my hosting package because of this incident host sap
i agreed with him it shouldn't have been there but i think he could have given the lad 48 hours to remove the mp3s.
i think one day lewis will learn hot to run a business but at 13 i think hes just a tad too young. But it makes you wonder who your dealing with when you talk to someone online. When i contacted steve after finding out how old lewis was i had to ask how old he was. No way was i dealing with kids.0

whats the legal side of the internet seems so many people get away with so much, like webhosting, and use of ebay.
even people that have good webserver with no problems you get script kiddies using ddos or anything they can find off forums.
or exploting opensource software.
to hack websites.
there not even much you can do apart from block and report to isp and nothing even happens either.
thanks

Trouble is with isps they change everytime so its so easy to start a new username.
i mean what can you do stop everyone using the same dial up as the offender just to stop these kids.0

Oh come on! Where are all those guys with the "But age doesn't matter!" mantras?!
Elsewhere on WHT it's okay to sound like you are a 13-year-old in chat. And the forums. Spelling, punctuation & capitalization are transparent and purportedly have no reflection upon your business nor professionalism...
Where are all those people and why aren't they in this thread???
Sorry, I just couldn't help myself.

There is a correlation between eBay and the bad hosting companies. Selling your hosting services on eBay just seems... I don't know... cheap... tacky?

got us there
LOL you got some of us there.
Some of us are just starting out and agree should have shopped around.
Some of us seen a cheap hosting company and thought it would get us started
Some of us even found the kid charming when he first contacted you
Some of us even thuoght he was an adullt (Could have knocked me over with a feather when i realised he was only a kid)
Im guilty on all four points but since mines wasn't being set up initially with intentions of running a business then i wasn't really looking hard enough but now i have my site on a fantaastic server and seeing it all built up or nearly all built up makes me want to turn it into a business but point im trying to make is we all make rash decisions and regret them later.
weve made our mistakes and i thing hostsaphire is letting you know what pinpoint is like sos that nobody else makes that same mistake
shop around ask people if they know the company and if not then look around some more.
with ebay or any other auction i think they should read the persons feedback (which might be ok but remember some gives you the perfect service till the feedback is left).

Could we just stop all this rubbish here and NOW!!!!!!!
First off let me say i am not some spoilt little kid that has thrown his rattle out of the pram for what ever reason. I am 41 years of age and proud of it.
Can i just say here and now that i came across pinpoint hosting on ebay on the 15th May 2005 i still have all the electronic receipts from paypal so i can prove what i am saying.
Yip the guy is running 2 servers and i have accounts on both - To be perfectly frank with you i have had account that have cost 20 times as much and been 3 times the bother.
The budget celeron that you refer to is actually a Pentium 4 (2.80GHz) yes i can post a screenshot if your that interested.
I dont know what this is all about and i dont really care.
Can i just say to the guy that has started this thread - Have you ever heard of the words libel or slander ?? I really hope you have because you have just set yourself up for it if Lewis is prepared to bring a case to court.0

It's thanks to you ****ing idiots, that have caused pinpointhosting to annouce that they are closing down later this month.
Before i start i would like to say i am not the owner or friend of the owner of pinpointhosting. I have been with them for around 4 months now and i have rarely had problems so i don't know where your ******** has come from. 85%..... idiot....
I admit their support isn't great but it was satisfactory. I also know that they are not 13, it's easy to find out their age.
It's idiots like you that can kill off a business, making false claims cos your too damn stupid to realise that it's accually you thats doing something wrong.
I have to find myself another host now so i hope your happy...

Lewis can't prepare as case. In order to file you have to have your business paper-work in order (e.g. Articles or incorporation, etc.). Besides a slander case may be dismissed if the injurious statements were stated as opinion rather than fact; if they are deemed "fair comments and criticisms"; if they do not actually do injury to the plaintiff's reputation; or if the statements were true. The plaintiff in a slander case must also prove that the defendant acted negligently or with malice in order to win a case.
Posting on WHT is all about opinions, not facts. There is no case here
Lewis is getting a good amount of publicity and I can tell you that bad publicity is good publicity.0

The post was entirely based on my opinion and was supported by the opinion of other customers.
I did not intend this post to become a petty little argument about the host. I was simply broadcasting my opinion, which was based on months of very poor service, while advising others not to risk using this host aswell.
I started this post and now I would like to end it, thank you.0

I notice on their forum, all the topics in the "Bad Testimonials" have been removed.
