Question Searching for CMS for clanwebsites

Last week our site had be taken down (the scripts were full of buggs and someone hacked into our adminsection). Does anyone have links to more stable CMS-tools?

With these scripts its easy to add news, members, wars, etc

searching for something more related to gaming/ clansites... found this one: http://www.openci.de/ (but there is a fee for that). Just wondering if there are any good free (or cheaper) ones

it's impossible to define "good" because that will vary for everyone.

    http://cmsmatrix.org

it's lists free + commercial software, you can compare their features side-by-side. However, for simplicity sake and since you said it's about gaming, why don't you check out DragonflyCMS, PostNuke or other PHPNuke based offshoots. I **DO NOT** recommend PHPNuke because it's a gigantic gaping security hole that sucks all the life out of your server. Other slightly more complex but certainly more capable and flexible platforms include Mambo/Joomla, Xoops and e107.

    enjoy.

    Well, you can visit www.surreal-media.com

They sell top quality templates and you get a nice CMS with it (check the template on their site).

    Thanks.

actually there have been 32 advisories published against Postnuke in 2005 but compared to the 90+ against PHPNuke, that's a pretty good track record. Most of the issues were caused by PHP anyways but no CMS is 100% safe because of the problems inherent in PHP.

Not all CMS's are written in PHP

very true, let me rephrase. Most CMSs will be vulnerable due to inherent flaws in PHP. There are those that are written in other languages (ASP, .NET, plain vanilla HTML) that woudln't suffer from PHP issues. But since most freeware and/or UNIX based CMS platforms use PHP, it's something to be careful of.

Any piece of software is going to be open to security exploits.. so it's not the security of the software that is the issue in most cases, but rather the development teams attitude towards addressing security issue that arise etc etc.. are patches released asap etc.

Anyway.. I think we are starting to take this thread off topic.
