Is there a way to compare files between my server and my pc.

    Hi all.

Is there a way to compare files between my server and my pc.

    Example:

I just uploaded a set of joomla files and possibley there are some corrupt files.

Is there a quick way of comparing the files on the server to the files on my client pc?

Is there any software for this?

    Thanks

    Mike

If you want to replace corrupted files, you can do it with any FTP client. You set it to overwrite if size of file on server differs

Also I want to upload a bunch of files.

Why did I not think of that? It's obvious when someone tells you. Thanks for telling me :-)

Also I want to upload a bunch of files. I'm aware that some have to go up as binary and some as ascii. If I upload a zipped up file and then use cpanel to extract then am I correct in thinking that they will extract in the same condition as if they were uploaded individually either in ascii or binary?

Probably not a clear question but I think you may understand what I mean.

    Thanks again

I'm not sure using cPanel itself, but you can upload the archive via FTP and extract it via SSH.

Or just use a "Drag and Drop" FTP Client like Filezilla

I think Dreamweaver provide remote file comparision feature and for ftp ing your files(ASCII or binary) leapftp give you GUI based interface. It also has 60 days free trial
