Problem with Fantastico and SQL Database

I installed SMF using Fantastico and what it does is create the database and user automatically. I however do not know the password for this user for the database. Anyone tell me how to get the password or is there a default that Fantastico uses in this process?

    Thanks

In your file manager, or via FTP, locate this file: Settings.php

If your forum is at yourdomain.com/forum, you will find Settings.php in "public_html/forum"

View Settings.php But if I may ask did you just forget it or something? The username and password have to be typed in during installation.

The topic starter said he used fantastico to install SMF. Fantastico auto-creates the mysql database and user. It does not prompt the user for such information (nor does it display it after the install). It does ask for an admin user/pass combination, but that is only for the forum management, not the database.

Sry I got confused in that. The admin user pass should be available if you select mysql databases in cpanel.

He should have the info in mysql/phpmyadmin as that is where it is stored. He could use a converter to convert from hex to regular letters, there's one here: http://www.javascriptkit.com/script/...mconvert.shtml

I use that for phpbb and it works just fine. You can modify your password in the admin table in phpbb, not sure what its called in SMF as I have never used that forum before.

Sorry, my mistake. I finally read his whole problem and I was referring to the admin or just plain user setup. You do have to look in the php file to find the db login info.
