Google Adwords

Hi all,

Does anybody else use google adwords and do they find it effective?
Ive been using it for about a week and despite a high number of impressions im only getting a extremely low clickthrough rate.
What are the best/most common ways to advertise a hosting business?

Many thanks

Yeah most definatly.
About 2 minutes ago my advert had been shown 7,107 times today but that had only resulted in 3 clickthroughs and that has cost me £4.24!!
That is remarkably expensive in my opinion. Google lets you select how much you want to spend on each clickthrough but you need to have a fairly high price to get anywhere near the top of the search results.

Adwords is very effective if you have a big advertising budget (it is expensive)

google adwords is too much, although many say it is good. i would choose yahoo search marketing over google anytime.

try out smaller search engines for lower cpc rates. however, from my personal experience, small search engines don't give much conversions or any at all.

Google Adwords is much more costlier since it has more advertisers with higher cpc rates.

I would recommend another for small websites

Use some alternate keywords. May be like "Linux Web Hosting" etc.etc. But the best part of adwords or overture is that you will get the very much tageted traffic. So the conversion rate is also very high. I will not mind even if I need to increase the cost for keywords to a certain extent.

I just had my ad suspended as I had the word "all" in capitals.
Youd think they would overlook it or give me a warning due to the amount of money im spending on it!

LOL you want them to contact you and tell you to stop spending money with them? Somehow I don't think is going to happen.

Even the big advertisers need to follow the guidelines.

Of course, but a polite email asking me to change it would be much more appreciated than stopping my ad! It costs them money aswell as me!

It'd be more appreciated by you, but not by the other paying advertisers competing with you for the same keywords and seeing an ad that's clearly breaking the rules.

It was an honest mistake and I dont see how a capitalized "all" is going to upset other paying advertisers.
Where's the harm in a warning email first? Its not going to bring Google or any competitor to a grinding halt.

Well... is suspending one ad for however long it takes you to correct the error going to bring you to a grinding halt?

What can I say, the rules are the rules... personally I think the rules on capitalization are a little silly but at the same time they are very clear.
