Best way to go...

Hey all,

I own 3 Windows 2000 servers that are stored in a data warehouse in L.A. (web server, db server, mail server). Currently I have a medium sized web hosting client base but I don't have software to manage these clients. I just set them up through IIS, give them an FTP acct. and bill them manually.

I'd like to buy some software that could take the load off of my shoulders and automate alot of tasks that I do now. Can anyone tell me the best way to go about this? Or at least point me to some good software solutions? I'm not a big corporation so I don't want to spent a ton of money but I wouldn't balk at spending a couple grand.

Thanks so much.

-J

deanmachine,

Have you looked into H-sphere control panel that will allow you to give access to your clients, billing, support and supports multiple OS? Depends on your needs for bandwidth, space, maybe a large reseller or VPS account will save you a bunch?

Thanks for your reply Alex. I've heard h-sphere is pretty good. It looks like they license per account though. Isn't there a way I can just buy the software and have as many sites/clients as I want?

Does anyone know if Vitalstream has any control panel software they provide to their customers (my servers are in Vitalstreams L.A. datacenter)? I didn't see anything on their website.

Why don't you try contacting the datacenter? They would be able to point you in the right direction.

If you want to use hsphere you would have to have a linux box for the control panel setup, it can't be installed on windows only. You said you had 3 windows server. What about maybe a Helm solution. The hsphere licenses aren't to bad because you can reuse them so if a client leave you just transfer the license over to a new client. If you get it from some reseller you might be able to find it for about $4/license which is a one-time fee.
