    Datacenter in UK for High Availability High Performance Server Cluster

    Hello,

    We are searching on behalf of a client a
    datacenter in UK for building up a new
    Linux-HA-HP-server cluster.

    In summary we need:
    BANDWIDTH:
    1TB/per Machine will be sufficient.

    ALL MACHINES:
    * rack mounted.
    * with 2 NICs.
    * Debian Sarge, custom partitioning
    * 100% Linux complient no binary drivers. No NVIDIA-Chipset, no Marvel,Yucon NICs etc.
    * 2 x SATA HDD software raid 1
    * remote reboot

    THE INDIVIDUAL MACHINES:
    * 1 Piece (SW): Manageable and RELIABLE Switch.
    * 2 Pieces (LB): Single CPU machines for the loadbalancers. Currently we have P4 2,6 GHz, 1 GB RAM
    and they are running fine. HDD as small as possible since only needed for boot operation.
    * 2 Pieces (SLAVE) : Dual (P4 or Xeon) HT, 1GB RAM, >=100 GB HDD RAID 1
    * 1 Piece (DB) : Dual (P4 or Xeon) HT, 2GB RAM, >=200 GB HDD RAID 1

    Curently our client has 7 SLAVE and 2 DB under load in Germany. Our Client assumes a much
    stronger demand in the UK. So it is likely that the cluster has to be upgraded to this extend very quickly.

    Any hints, pointers welcome.

    Best regards,

    Volker Jaenisch

    Heh, I was just about to put in a word for the same guy.

    Gyron is an excellent UK host; I've had a server there for a year and a half and the service is top notch. The support team is responsive and very knowledgable and the network is second to few in stability. In all the time I've been there, I've only noticed one brief period of downtime; for eight minutes, resulting from a DDoS which disrupted many London peering points, and which was fully accounted for in an email sent to Gyron customers right afterwards.

    I had an early problem with kernel instability caused either by software, hardware or a combination of both. At no cost Robin had the server replaced, updated to CentOS 4 and even threw in some hardware upgrades for free. The box hasn't missed a beat since.

    I can further recommend Gyron. I run a "High Availability High Performance Server Cluster" there and they have been excellent hosts so far.

    Another recommendation here - we take transit from Gyron and they've been rock solid and true to their 100% SLA since we first brought up the BGP sessions.

    Kind regards,
