Poweredge 1750 new hd hassles

Hello,

I have a poweredge 1750 with two drives in it setup as RAID1 (I have the internal ROMB card for raid).

Now, I bought a third drive for backups, and I want it to run as a separate drive, not in the RAID1 array. Put the drive in, went to configure it, none of the options would stick, it was always in the "READY" state and would not go online.

So, the tech at the DC started a "format" from the RAID configuration utility and we lost power a few boxes during that time, mine was one of them. Now the drive is "not responding" to any commands from the RAID configuration utility and we took it out.

My questions are:

1. Is this drive toast? Or will it resume its format command once it receives power again?

2. Can I setup the configuration that I am looking for with the internal ROMB card? If so, could anyone give me a quick walkthru?

^^ Sorry for the noobness.

You will need to ask the DC to check whether the BIOs is detecting the failed drive in the first place. If not, then you have a malfunctioning drive. If it does detect it, you will have to rebuild the drive under ROMB/ RAID.

Thanks for your reply. We are going to try a few things tonight. Just looks like a misconfiguration. It may have to run its internal Format command before we can Initialize the drive.
