Fill me in on the biz..

While looking for hosting , I became interested to reselling, but I have a question.

How does reseller deal with reselling when it come to ressource. In startting such a business, you elaborate a plan, make a website, do som publicity. In your business plan, you decide, you'll offer 4 shared hosting plan and 3 reseller plan. How do you deal with deman. Surely you wont have demand at the beginning.

So, what do you do, you must certainly start with a small reseller package because you dont want to have to spend 30$/month , if you dont have client. I understand you can upgrade your package.

suppose you have a demand for your bigggest reseller package, you must upgrade you reseller plan, but the delay in having the ressource available with your host, and setting up your client account , can seem long ?

With most hosts, uppgrading your account shouldn't be a slow process unless the server you are on is "full" (at which point the upgrade would require either your account to move to another server, or your account to be split between two servers.

The more a host "oversells" the more change there is of this being a problem.

You could ask to oversell then if that does come up you can oversell your webspace while upgrading. It's unlikely that your clients will upload to their full potential within a few hours.

If your "provider" is overselling, then you might face serious problems when it comes time for YOU to upgrade to a higher account.

This is often the difference between a host that charges $10 for 10gb of diskspace and a host that charges $50 for the same amount. The second host doesn't "need" to oversell just to pay their basic bills... and so they are more likely to have extra "room" (capacity) on your server for handling upgrades.

Welcome to the world of reselling.

You'll find that there is a HUGE variation in different plans and pricing. Just keep in mind that cheaper isn't always better. You already are beginning to understand why overselling is often a bad thing. It can be a good thing, too.. if used correctly. But many providers don't use overselling correctly, and they end up with big problems... and that directly effects YOU, the reseller who is stuck on an overloaded server.

yeah, stay away from overselling, result usually means slow web servers, and problems, and those who abuse space usually end up with no support and more headaches.. etc etc

Actually a good reseller, has the ability to ugprade a plan in their order
system, I know we have it in ours, simply go into the billing module, find the package you want to ugprade to and pay on the spot and instant upgrade..
