    Desktop app hosting

I have a really dumb question, please be gentle with me!!

I`m very new to hosting, and all the techno stuff that goes with it.

I`ll be straight up with this - I have a desktop application that runs with windows 95/98/me/2000 and XP.

Can this desktop application be run on a windows server? Shared or dedicated? If yes, how would I access it to run the program?

    Thanks

No, It will not work for sure, simply because web scripts out put is HTML code so browser can display it to you, while desktop softwares give output to regular output devices like monitor, printer, ..etc

how you expect MS Word to work if you run it from browser!

Short answer: yes, you can on a VPS or dedicated server running Windows. You'd use Windows Terminal Services (aka Remote Desktop in Windows XP) to connect to the server and run the application.
