Positive HostingPlex VPS setup

I've used WHT several times when researching hosts. It seems rare to see positive reviews of hosting service here - so I thought I would give credit where it is due.

I opened a VPS account today after chatting online with David from HostingPlex for about 20 minutes, during which time he answered all my questions quickly and to my satisfaction and even suggested some alternatives that will be appealing to the client for which I set up the VPS. Voice verification occurred soon after, and I expect to be online tonight.

My client requires a server outside the US for legal reasons (no, it's not porn), which led me to HostingPlex, with servers in Canada. I've been using another VPS host, LiquidWeb, for some time, and they've also provided excellent service. For many years, I have had sites on 3 different shared servers at what is now known as Netbunch (formerly Mesopia, formerly DR2.net). This too, has been an overwhelmingly positive experience.

That isn't to say that I've never had a bad web host. One of the first hosts I used was a disaster - not surprisingly, the host is no longer in business. That's why it's important to see feedback, both positive and negative, from hosting customers - not from unscrupulous hosts who post positive messages without full disclosure and not from competitors trying to harm their competition's reputation with petty attacks and false accusations. Thank you to WebHostingTalk for providing this valuable service!

This weekend, we moved the main site from its previous shared hosting account to the HostingPlex VPS. The previous site was out of space and our ability to make simple changes there was extremely restricted. I had major problems transferring the site with cPanel and asked the previous host for assistance, since the problems were on that server. 2 days later, no response.

HostingPlex, on the other hand, offered to assist and was able to resolve ALL problems - even those on the old server. HP-Kevin and DavidJ provided VERY quick and extremely knowledgeable support in resolving issues with email (over 100 accounts on one domain), file transfer (the site was too large to transfer), permissions, SSL, security...they did not stop until we were completely up and running, not to mention extremely SATISFIED.

The bottom line: if you're looking for a great VPS host, include HostingPlex on your short list.

Just curious what would be allowed in Canada and not the US? Also, are you saying they are willing to host something 'illegal' in the US? Just curious since you mentioned it.

It's not illegal in the US or Canada. It's an education site that isn't ready to comply with mountains of US restrictions.

Never knew Canada was so much more laxed with things like that.

With Hostingplex, so far so good. The server has been working fine, and we haven't had many reports of downtime (we monitor it independently). The only issue, really, seems to be that some are occasionally unable to access the site from Australia and other locations. That seems most likely to be caused by DNS issues on the visitors end since we've never had those problems, at least not with that site, in the US.

Kevin,

Also sounds like it may be routing related!
Thank you for the additional information.
