Problem downloading .mpg .avi .wmv files

My customer has a site with these format types for download:
    .mpg .avi .wmv

When I try to download them it asks to save as HTML document and when I try to play it with Windows Media Player it is failing.

Is there any configuration that should be done in httpd to fix this issue ?

    Thank you.

One: Tell us where this error occurs
Two: What platform are you using?
Three: Have you tried using other browsers? Some browsers do not allow videos/movies to be played or downloaded

I have added the Mime Types as:

    mod_gzip_item_include file "\.mpg$"
    mod_gzip_item_include file "\.wmv$"
    mod_gzip_item_include file "\.avi$"
    mod_gzip_item_include file "\.ram$"
    mod_gzip_item_include file "\.mov$"

    This didnt help

Did I make any mistake ? What should be put ?

hmm, mime types look more like this (apache config, mime.types)
    video/x-msvideo avi
    audio/x-pn-realaudio ram rm
    etc

you want to use gzip to compress the media files on the fly?
i doubt any media player does support it, so i would recommend to remove that part
