AIM Spyware?
I logged into AIM today using the actual AIM not GAIM as I usually use and it told me it was automatically adding Moviefone and Shopping Buddy to my contact list.
I have never seen anything like this so I am a little worried I may be infected though multiple scans tell me I am clean so far.

I recieved that also. Makes sense with moviefone and AOL being connected. Works pretty neat you can shop right throuh AIM. Works with trillian as well. I have multiple AIM accounts but only recieved the notice for one account.

Thanks, It actually sounds like a great feature but I was a little hesitant to click on it because I have never had AIM do anything like that in the many years of using AIM so thanks again

Yes, when I signed on with Kopete today, I saw that too -- bugged the hell out of me, but alas, I guess there's nothing to be done, short of removing them.

Ahh..so that's what that is. I use Trillian Pro or GAIM, noted the same thing, but hadn't had a chance to check it out yet. Interesting..

Just got this today as well... I hope some little wanker doesn't figure out how to hack this backdoor AIM has programmed into their application.

Just got mine through Trillian, and it lasted all of 10 seconds. Deleted it immediately, only to have it tell me I could still change my mind, offering me an address.
Is there no end to unwanted "offers" on line?Last edited by bear; 11-16-2005 at 09:31 PM.

I give you that one...nothing is completely free. I bought Trillian so I wouldn't have to endure constant ads when using AIM, though, and this is kind of intrusive, like a popup. I block those too.

It's like AOL is forcing us to convert to Google IM.
