PHP programming help - good books?

    Hello,
Can anyone recommend a good way to learn programming in PHP? So far I've only built websites using FrontPage, and any PHP programming I've needed I've had to hire people to do.

Ideally, is there a website-creator program (i.e. FrontPage, Dreamweaver, GoLive, etc...) that makes writing PHP-coded websites easier? As you can probably tell, I'm not much of a programmer.... so anything WYSIWYG is preferrable

But failing that, what books are recommended for learning PHP/MySQL?

    Thanks!

    Rob.

I always recommend to use O'Reilly's http://safari.oreilly.com online library.
They have a 14 days trial offer, IIRC.. and US$ 9.95/mo is the cheapest subscription for 5 books.
You can add 5 books into your bookshelf, and you can replace them once in a month if you want.

As a beginner, you will need more than one book, and once you got the basics you won't need those "PHP/MySQL for Beginners" books and need to buy new ones. Besides there will be new releases, new versions of PHP, MySQL etc.

Once you get yourself to an intermediate level, you can just unsubscribe, and use the online docs at http://php.net and http://dev.mysql.com/doc/
    Closed for winter...

Any book in the For Dummies® series is good. When I first started out, I got PHP 4 for Dummies. That helped me get started. Zend Studio is really good for PHP programming as well. It's as close to WYSIWYG as you'll ever get.
