    LT vs Galaxyvisions

    Hey all,

We're looking to expand to a secondary server. Our current one at LT has been amazing, but is starting to become a bit overloaded with too many tasks, and we need to expand to add some new features. So, we began shopping for a second server to offload some services to, as well as to expand our current offerings and provide some redundancy.

Using the Hostquote feature I was contacted by galaxyvisions.com. They have offered to beat LT's price on the exact server we're looking at. Now, price is always a consideration, but I can find next to no information on Galaxy Visions. Their sales staff has been amazing and very helpful. But I am a bit leery of going with a company with so little unbiased info available. So, what do you think, pay the extra costs and go with LT or take a chance on possibly finding a great new host while saving a bit too?

I would be very careful with that host; a quick search revealed:

I believe that is the galaxyvisions you are referring to - if not I will remove the above.

LayeredTech has an excellent reputation. I've been thinking of hosting one in there myself.

Youch! That would seem to be the same company. I guess the old saying about "too good to be true" would be appropriate here. Anyone else have any experience with this company?

LayeredTech is a very good provider. They do more than they should being an unmanaged provider.

Though, I do wish support time response was faster.

Not being radical but having some server IPs listed in SBL is common among server providers. It just means some spammers use/hack their servers. If it's not a long list, I think this is quite normal.
See some big good reputation companies in SBL:
    http://www.spamhaus.org/SBL/listings...sp=servint.com
    http://www.spamhaus.org/SBL/listings.lasso?isp=ev1.net
    http://www.spamhaus.org/SBL/listings...=theplanet.com

So I would say if you think galaxyvisions is ok in other aspects, this shouldn't stop you from buying server from them.

layered has always been good to me, I have several machines there with no problem. They have never told me to get lost on the few questions I have asked of them that were entering the realm of managed servers. The other company I have no experience with
