At least 2 of the kids got money, from the "normal mom", to move out of her house.

I don't watch reality tv (or much tv at all) - but this was impossible NOT to watch.

Here's a clip I found online. I haven't watched it, but from the comments I read about the clip...its taken directly from the show tonight:

She took $20,000 of the tainted money for a gastric bypass. Isn't gluttony one of the 7 deadly sins?

The woman is a plant. She was intentionally put into the show because FOX knew they would sell advertising. Reality TV is about as real as a politician's promise.

I refuse to watch any so called reality TV show. I know a chef who's kitchen was filmed for a reality TV show and he was told he had to "go off" on someone because his kitchen was too boring.

I only saw the ads for this one. She's a nut.. pure and simple. The most disturbing part of the last ad I saw was her being totally calm and speaking with the other mother saying some akin to.."I'm just a laid back, fun loving person" <-- paraphasing - before going back to shots of her being crazy-fundy-godfreak.

0 to 100 miles an hour of crazy in 6 seconds.

    *serious voice*
If I was a parent of the 'opposing family' and had the slightest idea the producers of that show knew about this women's insanity without telling me, before releasing her on my kid, I'd be up to my eyeballs in the yellow pages looking for a lawyer.
    */serious voice*

I don't think I could watch it. I'm not a fan of that kind of reality TV, let alone having that kind of crazy anywhere near young children.

I fail to see your point, isnt that the way all TV is? Even the local weatherman is hired on his ability to draw eyeballs thus advertisers. I know the reality shows are from "the darkside" lmao.

Reminds me of a woman I once knew who would whine and complain that wrestling is fake (again...duh), then she would actually cry and scream at the TV when Highlander came on.

They had a luke warm show here in the states (Hell's Kitchen) recently but his original show I saw, "Ramsay's Boiling Point" was pretty entertaining (having worked in a kitchen or two in the past).

nor is it any less real than any other show on tv. To say it is less real than anything else is like saying claus is a fraud, but the bunny rocks.

Ok.. I'm missing your point. Reality TV is as 'unreal' as scripted sitcoms? If so, yeah fine.. I agree. I think the point was that sitcoms don't advertise as 'reality'.

If I'm still missing something we'll just part ways.

Yeah.. I've never mentioned this outright, but your Martha/Rosie thing is kind of odd. I mean, diff'rent strokes and all that, but that's kind of 'tenth planet' if you know what I mean.

This is not with any malace, but the thought flew by as I read this...

Scenic as a side show circus freak.

That actually fits reality tv well anyway.

They are marketing the product as "Reality TV". That is the problem. It's a lie.

    No. Not Gordon Ramsey.
I wouldn't even let a clown like that in my kitchen.

Gordon Ramsey is another product of FOX that has about as much to do with the real world as the Beverly Hillbillies did.

Wow, she's hot! 450lbs and you can drive a Mac Truck through that gap in her fangs.

That being said, this show reeks of staging for maximum controversy.

I rarely watch TV but saw a preview for this and just had to watch. She was insane, I was really shocked the whole time watching how crazy she was.

She's a pretty stereotypical psycho-church mom. Believe it or not I know some people VERY much like her, perhaps even worse, related to a few too.

Didn't you love how she marshaled those kids to treat her like a queen?

Notice the oldest daughter got knocked up at 16 with (best I could tell) a racially mixed kid? (don't jump on me I'm not at all against interracial mixing just making an observation)

The husband is totally whipped, I mean I've seen some whipped fellas before but he's definitely taking the cake on whipped. Marriage should be a two way street, but what I saw on that episode was a pretty 1 way transaction.

That middle daughter really catches a lotta crap, wonder how she's gonna handle it when she starts to get older and more independant? Most of these staunch christians the kids typically do 1 of 2 things:

A: marry the first boy who comes along
B: go totally buck wild (pregnant at 16 perhaps?)

I've seen it over and over, the daughter either runs from mommy at the first oppurtunity marrying the first man who'll give her time of day or the kid just starts going wild, drugs, drink, partying, sex, etc. It's a human reaction to a lifetime of what amounts to parental oppression, you gotta let kids have a little freedom or they get stubborn and rebellious.

I agree this episode was obviously staged for maximum impact, but this woman's "performance" was very true to what I'd expect out of people like her. And all the while she's acting as "unchristian" as the heathens she's trying to convert.

Do you think Jesus would have refused to talk to that "psychic"? Do you think he would have been rude to that boy? I don't think so. He wouldn't flap around his house cursing at cameramen either.

OF course I don't think Jesus would agree to be on a flim flam reality tv show either

Ok now I can go back to completely refusing to watch ANY reality tv (unless it's TLC or Discovery channel!) but I just had to record these 2 episodes for morbid curiousity.

Reality TV is quite stupid, imo. I've never gotten why so many folks are drawn to it. But no, in keeping with the thread (I guess! ) I did not see this episode. In fact, I have only seen about one or two episodes of the show before - it's a real yawner!

Sorry to drag this old thread up, but I just had to point out that while he may be quite "unreal", Gordon Ramsey is in fact a very successful multiple Michelin star winning restauranteur - and yes, pretty well known worldwide for his temper. I wouldn't exactly call him a "product of FOX"...
