    Transferring a site

I'm currently on a shared hosting and I was thinking of trying out VPS just for testing and I want a copy of my current site to a VPS.

Could anyone direct me to a tutorial on how to transfer files and database from one server to another without having to download the files to your pc.

    TIA

Hehe, that's quite a question Can you provide any more details? Do the servers have any control panels? Do you have root/administrator access to both of them?

I have shell access to the shared hosting and has cpanel and then there's the VPS with cpanel too

I guess it's not possible huh

So I just have to download the files from the shared host and upload it to the VPS?

Why do you think it's impossible? cPanel can do all of that for you.

You have root access to the VPS, right? If so, you can easily transfer the sites over using the transfer function in WHM. This will pack the specific accounts you run the transfer for together with all the files, databases, passwords, etc and all of that will be transferred to your new VPS automatically.
    Have a question?
