Actually nothing special. Just that they *should* be the fastest host for my visitor who are mainly from Singapore. Take a look at the PING times and traceroute which are only 9 hops away.

PING he.net (216.218.186.2): 56 data bytes
64 bytes from 216.218.186.2: icmp_seq=0 ttl=248 time=177.5 ms
64 bytes from 216.218.186.2: icmp_seq=1 ttl=248 time=169.8 ms
64 bytes from 216.218.186.2: icmp_seq=2 ttl=248 time=177.5 ms
64 bytes from 216.218.186.2: icmp_seq=3 ttl=248 time=177.5 ms
64 bytes from 216.218.186.2: icmp_seq=4 ttl=248 time=169.4 ms

traceroute to he.net (216.218.186.2), 30 hops max, 38 byte packets
1 165.21.103.2 (165.21.103.2) 0.746 ms 0.708 ms 0.301 ms
2 GE-1-1-0.bedok.singnet.com.sg (165.21.12.1) 0.541 ms 0.514 ms 0.464 ms
3 POS2-0.tp-core1.ix.singtel.com (202.160.250.53) 0.665 ms 0.671 ms 0.632 ms
4 POS4-0.tp-core2.ix.singtel.com (202.160.250.170) 0.539 ms 0.548 ms 0.430 ms
5 203.208.172.6 (203.208.172.6) 195.270 ms 195.088 ms 195.890 ms
6 203.208.172.46 (203.208.172.46) 195.760 ms 195.250 ms 168.199 ms
7 paix.he.net (198.32.176.20) 195.782 ms 195.516 ms 175.877 ms
8 gige-g9-0.gsr12012.sjc.he.net (216.218.130.1) 169.310 ms 169.341 ms 176.922 ms

Yes, that's quite fast. one of the reason is because HE.net is located in California which is as close as it can be from Singapore. Now if you don't mind, try to ping/traceroute NAC.net or VDI.net, both of which are in New Jersey, about 3-4000 miles away from HE.net. I just want to see the difference in ping/traceroute, of course you probably need to do the traceroute/ping to HE.net again to make a fair comparison.

cheers,

dektong,

I dont want the thread to be very long. Here's the link to trace route.

But just to comment that i have been tracing and pinging he.net facilities and it never varies much from the results above which is very good.

Might be fast for customers either on the west coast or in Asia like you said, but I can assure you that NAC or any other good data center in the east coast will provide better and faster connectivity to customers on the east coast, south america and europe.

Another provider which is very fast to Asia is Maxim.net. The datacenter that Weinbar was in (Fourthstage aka Aperian) before they are sold are also damn good.

90% of my visitor are from Asia region. Thats is the reason why i'm looking for he.net facilities. I think maxim.net facilities will do as well.
