IMO PR has no value, The site does. But I'm sure if a site has a PR of 10 tells me it is traffic worthy in which brings value.

MySpace.com is PR7 and sold for $500m. Chances are if a site is PR10 it's worth big bucks.

MySpace also had millions of members.

It depends what type of site it is, do you have any more details, zenaps?

True, but the chances of having a PR10 site with no members or content is pretty slim. Offhand the only two PR10s I can think of are phpBB and Google.

Edit: phpBB is back to a 9..

so out of interest, what would stop you forwarding a domain name to a site which did have a high PR rating, and over time get its rating up?

There are more than 6 pr 10's - someone posted a list here, in the thread of the "Pr10 link for sale" guess that thread was pulled.

So to get PR10 you would need AT LEAST ~258000 (google) backlinks. Theres more to that from what I read though. Not any backlink will work or help your PR, you have to take content of linking site into consideration to your content. This is just what I have read elsewhere and I reserve the right to be wrong

It's funny how often people put a link to Google on their site for no real reason. Either way, 325m links to one site is impressive.

From what I've heard, the Google resets the PR when the owner information changes so... at that point it's the content and popularity of the site that's important.

I don't think PR will reset if owner's contact has changed. What I have heard is the PR will reset after the domain is expired and registered again.

There's (seemingly) no rhyme or reason to it. I added a new (undeveloped) site to my network of sites, and simply cross-linked to it from about 4 of my other well ranked sites. Within a few weeks, the new site had a PR6. And all it had in terms of "content" was a large jpg on the home page.

Ironically, when I finally populated the site with actual content, it dropped to PR5.
