Too Many Reality Shows?

Is it only me or others are getting tired of the reality shows. Since they are “cheap,” compared to a normal show, all networks are jumping on producing them.

It has been a while since any of the three major television networks had some nice program lineup.

And speaking of everyone having their reality show, Jay Leno did a nice mock on it:

I think this has been the case for a very long time now. Other than 'American Chopper' and 'American Hotrod' I can't say I watch any of them - though The Amazing Race was good for the first few years.

Shows like 'Lost' prove there is a big market for well made shows though. HBO has been making great TV with 'Carnivale', Deadwood', 'Dead Like Me' and 'Rome'. It's a shame more of the regular channels aren't putting the work in.

I'm pretty sure it's only you, because I've never heard or read any mention of that crazy idea before.

Another thing I'd like to point out: has anyone else noticed the offensive lyrics in rap music?

Your friend,
Bill McNeal

We need more reality shows!

After watching them for a few years, I found that my own reality was very warped in comparison, and I've begun radically changing my lifestyle to better mirror the ideal ones on TV.

Reality shows - What reality first they analyze and profile the applicants - then they get put into staged mock ups of life, then we see heavily edited versions of that. What reality????

I love reality shows - I'd rather watch one than any of genre of television. They take everyday people and put them in desirable situations.

I have totally hated reality shows from day one. They are the worst possible type of TV show. This is my opinion and I'm sticking to it.

Why is there a question mark on the title of this thread? I thought it was a given that there are too many reality shows. Good television (remember the sitcom?) has been replaced by this junk. Outside of sports I rarely turn on the tv because of it.

I hate that stupid show survivor?

The first one was good but after that it sucks.

all the people in survivor are stupid morons who cant even do the simpilst tasks and sit around like the lazy morons they are its more a vacation than a fight for survival.

Only thing they have to survive is each other.

Yep, that is what I think too. In my case, I watch TV for the news now - everything else is just "junk" in their line up.

I am sure many like it since more and more junk is produced.

I'm happy to see that I'm not the only one that hates most of the newer TV shows.

It is a psedo-reality show that is heavily edited and boring.

A real reality show would be a documentary, an example would be a BBC reporter following the human trade.

I agree! It was a novelty for a few months but at this point, the thrill has worn off.
