Cheapest 10Mbps?

Any suggestions on what the cheapest 10Mbps providers are? Hardware doesn't matter a lot---I'd be just serving HTTP downloads (non-adult) and I can run something lighter than Apache such as thttpd.

Here's what I've found so far:

$0 setup, $80/mo, Celeron 1GHz, 512 MB RAM, 20 GB IDE/9 GB SCSI
http://www.nocster.com/unmetered.shtml

$100 setup, $80/mo (3 months advance), Celeron 2GHz, 512 MB RAM, 40 GB IDE
http://www.hivelocity.net/Plans/Dedi...unmetered1.asp

The Nocster plan seems better for me (no setup fee; no requirement to pay for 3 months) since hardware doesn't matter. Any other hosts I should look at?

I think the plans you have found are about as low as it will get with a trusted provider.

i wouldnt advise you to look at the cheapest..

whats the use of having the cheapest when the server is down 24/7 or speeds are totally crap?

(i am NOT talking about nocster or hivelocity but in general about cheapness compared to quality)

you would be wiser to pay a bit more for a SLA and make sure that you can have a decent connection

The Nocster unmetered plan isn't a guaranteed unmetered, while HiVelocity is. Look at the description of the plans on the middle of the Nocster page. Nocster is managed, while HiVelocity isn't though.

Our 10MBPS UNMETERED clients are getting 10MBPS speeds actually...

As far as downtime goes:
99.9%+ Uptime for past 75 days or so:

Then why not guarantee they will get it?

This is a quote from your site " The 10MBPS bandwidth allocation is not guaranteed/dedicated, and is supplied on a "best-effort" basis---which may result in some slowdowns during peak traffic times.
NO OVERAGE FEES REGARDLESS OF USAGE. "

Mavweb. Pushed the full port for a few days straight - image hosting.

I was going to go with noc but I turned out not needing a server.

You should, at the very least, have the class to not include your sig when raggin' on another unmetered company

Ah, I just remembered that Nocster gives a 25% discount to its resellers.

Are there any good Nocster resellers cheaper than server4sale?

That would mean they'd have to guarantee to provide it, and charging that at those prices could A. Work against them and B. Cause more issues as supplying on a 'best effort' basis allows room to say 'The network is congested'.

For the price and the service, if you get 10mbps, money well spent. If not, hey, read the policy

Dont confuse your self with Nocster Unmetered TEST product line with Actual 10MBps. There is a huge cost difference in Price. If you look at nocster 10mbps plan which starts from $250 or so do provide 10Mbps guaranteed

Managed-dot-com is currently offering dedicated servers with 10mbps uplink speed for 84.95 USD, though I believe there were 69.95 USD ones about a few months ago. However, you could also check out the VPS, which are priced at 44.95 USD for a uplink speed of 10mbps too. Though if you want to get a server, why not pay a little more for a 100mbps connection and give your server much more power?

There is quite a price difference between 10 Mbit and 100 Mbit connections...
