Crontab -e with nano

Today, I tried to do crontab -e as usual, but it showed

/bin/sh: pico: command not found
crontab: "pico" exited with status 127

It is a CentOS4.2, I searched and found that pico is not removed

could you suggest how to use crontab -e with nano?

crontab nano -w is just not working

just export EDIROR or VISUAL variable like error404 said and set this to the real path of nano, vim or joe.
you can use the command ' witch nano ' to find the path of nano or anyother ediror.

You would need to export it everytime you use it or set it in your enviroment.

Or if you're using Debian (God I love stuff like this, it's so elegant):
Code:
update-alternatives --set editor /usr/bin/nano
The real question is why was the default editor set to one thats nonexistant on the system, and is pretty much deprecated.
