pure-ftpd allowing root login
I need to have root to ftp in to a cpanel server ( pure-ftpd) for a brief period of time. I know it can be a security issue, but I urgently need it.
I have set
but still I cant not ftp into the server.
Any help on this
Check /etc/ftpusers. Root shouldn't be listed if you want to be able to log in.
But..uh..why don't you just use something secure like scp or sftp?
In cPanel server there is no /etc/ftpusers file.
I need to use a FTP Client ( may be FileZilla that supports even sFTP) to ftp into the server as a root user.
Can anybody help me out with this. How do I configure pure-ftpd to allow root even if I use sftp. How do I use my FileZilla client to sftp as a root.
download the winscp ( assume you are running windows os on your workstation ) and install it :
Login with your root password and you are able to upload and download. It will require your ssh information on the server.
If you have shell access, you can setup sftp to use port 22 (if that is your shell port).

If you can log in with SSH to a shell as root, it should work exactly like that with no changes to the server.
