Is Webhosting.info Accurate?
I found from this link that mos of the top web hosting companies seem to be so unknown. Among the top 15, I have very bad experience with Yahoo, and rather positive experience with iPowerWeb. Saw ads from 1and1 all over the place, but haven't tried it. My question is: is the info presented here accurate? If not, which companies are the biggest and the best?

Just because you had a bad experience, doesnt mean the company isnt big... bigger companies get far more bad experiences
I dont believe webhostinginfo is very accurate at all.

I've found webhosting.info (at least the web host report section) to be extremely accurate. When we bought out two other web hosting companies, we saw an accurately reflected spike in the number of websites our company hosts, as well as the decrease in websites hosted by the old companies. They go purely by the nameservers on domains.

Exactly.
A lot of hosts have many many nameservers, not everyone uses just a handful of nameserver hostnames.
This makes it very inaccurate... unless you conform to their calculated methods...

Also it only looks at tld domains, it ignores .co.uk domain for example. Over 60% of our own business is .co.uk - Therefore while we host over 9000 domains, webhosting.info shows about 2000.

It's not accurate. The algorithms used are primarily targetting shared hosting companies. I'm with Matt on this one!

The actual problem with webhosting.info (and dailychanges.com btw.) is that they do not recognize ccTLDs. Quite some of the world's largest web hosts have their businesses mainly based in Europe, accordingly these sites don't recognize 90% of these companies' domain name registrations.
The name server problem is valid as well of course, but does not have that much of an impact.
netcraft.com does, however, take all domain registrations into account. Big disadvantage for this one: It's a "pay site", periodically they also provide information to the "public" though. Most recent comparison between the most popular hosting companies out there I could find dates back to June: http://news.netcraft.com/archives/20...ion_sites.html
Edit: Don't get me wrong, data provided by webhosting.info and the likes can still be valuable if you only want to compare the popularity of certain web hosts in the US or something like that.
