    Searching for a dedicated windows server - what do you think of velcom

    Ok guys I have read these forums up and down and have been searching for a host that can fit my needs. I think I have found the host that can meet all my needs let me know what you think of them. Also note if any providers look at this and can make a better offer let me know I can also provide my own licenses for any MS software as we are a MS partner. We are currently hosting approx. 30 websites on our t1 w/ cogent and we want to provide our customers with more reliablity that we can't affrod to offer.

    My Needs:

    Windows 2003 Server Std.

    Raid 1 hdd size has to be over 40 gb.

    Mail Server,ftp server( i can use windows ftp server), virus, and spam protection for mail clients.

    Stats Server

    Ability to backup all windows,iis settings and data.

    Also need a control panel.

    Prefer hardware firewall protection.

    Note: This velcom offer is good because it comes with helm which will allow me to install hmailserver, and awstats which are both free. Hmail server allows virus and spam protection. It also comes with 1 cisco pix firewall port.

    Get same configuration from sfwebhost.com for less + more advanced and powerful USA backbone (Velcom is Canadian based)

    That looks like the same thing godaddy.com has and godaddy is cheaper. Plus the server I put together on their is more expensive. Anybody got any other suggestions.

    I would like to see some more responses in reguards to velcom service. Is it good quality backbone or not. Please someone let me know as I need to put in an order on Monday.

    i have used the search tool as i have been all over this board in last 2 wks. I am ow looking for suggestions from others in the forum

    and i have used the search function!!! for every host i have looked at... not to mention that post about velcom was from over a yr ago

    Hold your horses. Velcom is not one of the more popular web host that people use here and thus it is prudent not to comment on a host which we do not have any experience on.

    This is the first time I heard about them and so it is hard to say how they are.

    If you want, you may want to give this thread sometime to allow for those people who use them to come visit WHT and provide their comments.
