Savvis CEO sued by Amex
Found this interesting, being that many users on this forum use Savvis Datacenters and such.

I wonder what happens when your wife hears that $20k worth of charges were legit?
P.S. I'm of no relation to the victim, but would he really be a victim in $240k worth of charges

Maybe he loose his mind due to hell of cyber problems.. but I still could not believe that news is 100% accurate.

Clearly AmEx believes that the charges were legit, because they've paid the club -- they didn't do a $240,000 chargeback. The way the process explained (fingerprinting and calling for voice authorization with the cardholder on the line) it seems that fraudulent charges wouldn't be likely.
To me it sounds like a high roller showing off the lifestyle he can lead with his little group, and getting carried away without thinking of the consequences. Certainly not the first group of guys who ended up spending more than they expected on a trip to a strip club; just that the back rooms at Scores put it at a much different level than most could ever risk.

How could you spend $241k at a strip club unless you were buying part of it?

I'll tell you what happened, the CEO decided to impress some of his customers by inviting them to Scores, originally he didn't want to spend more than $5 000 but after drinking a few shots he told himself "What the hell?" to the point where he offered $10 000 for a single lap dance.
For $10 000 you can buy yourself 5 "deluxe" escorts for an entire night and do a lot more than lap dances.Jean-Pierre Abboud / I'm the TekGURU

WIthout a doubt the prices are crazy. But people go there, to those rooms in particular, only to spend a lot of money doing something "regular people" don't get to do. In this case it got out of hand, and a severe case of "buyer's remorse" was the result.

They were in the "Elite VIP" rooms where, as the article says it's common to spend a few thousand for a bottle and $10,000 for a dance. No one's even going to get into those rooms unless they're planning on spending thousands, and for a group of four guys who see themselves as high rollers a tab of $100,000 probably isn't out of the ordinary.

After a lawsuit last year, Hanover said that "high rollers" visiting Scores' "super elite Presidents' Club" spend thousands of dollars on single bottles of champagne and tip strippers as much as $10,000 for lap dances and for spending time with them.

I have been in a club with two friends and spent $1400 between us. This was at a time when none of us were making close to the money we make now.
If we could blow that much money on our budgets I believe it would be easy enough for this guy to blow 200k.
I have seen regular clientele in Pure Platinum in Ft. Lauderdale who will drop 20-50k every time they stop by.

if it comes easily then will go easily too they said however I believe a CEO or a businessman who make profit by producing something, however much he earns, wont waste some thousands while he can get it for some hundreds regardless stirp bars!
Spending some hundred thosands within a night for a service could be valid habit for a singer, maybe for a actor, for a rich inheritor [ who earns too much easily ] but no I could not accept and doubt about that news if it is claiming SAVVIS CEO burned $241k within a night to the stripters if he did not loose his minds.

Hehe,
How nice! A stripper at Scores with regular 10k tips probably gets paid more than most of us here and sounds like top management Savvis is making good money, not sure about the technicians who work their butts off for $xx/hourLast edited by 123finder.com; 10-21-2005 at 06:07 PM.

Hanover said that each time a patron spends $10,000, Scores calls the customer's credit card company to get the charges approved. Scores even fingerprints the customer and requires him to get on the telephone with a credit card representative, he said.Last edited by BigBison; 10-21-2005 at 06:17 PM.
