    Outlook 2003 problem..help!!

    well i finally came out of the dark ages and got office 2003. i installed it 3 days ago, everything works great, then today outlook will start, but then it freezes word,excel etcc all work fine and dont freeze its only outlook the does this.

    has any one experinced anything like this before if so how did you fix it ??





    Please dont tell me the typical uninstall then reinstall - ive already done it 3 times, also dont tell me to use the repair feature this too ive already done 3 times.

    no clue what it could be.

    try deleting the temporary file frmcache.dat
    make sure you close outlook first.

    try a registry cleaner?? Then re-install the Soft again..

    and also try what Hostlead said.

    another thing...if you work with plugins (SAP, compaq office server, etc.), then you might want to re-install the plugins.

    Definately find the latest service pack for Office and install it.

    If your PST files is corrupted, or over 1.6 gigs, then Outlook starts to do all sorts of crazy stuff (like locking up). There is a PST repair tool included with office. I can't remember how to get to it, but a quick google search should help you out.

    This is no longer true for Outlook 2003.

    In the case of an upgrade Outlook would retain the old PST format. He'd have to create a new PST file and move the messages into it. At least that was my experience with a single machine, so I could be wrong here

    @Grove, also try renaming this folder C:\Documents and Settings\<Username>\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook to something different then launch Outlook. Doing so disables any plugins that might be running (antivirus, antispam) and resets your basic settings.
