    MySql character problems

i am moving my sites to another hosting company

but my ex-hosting server has a diffenet mysql version so i am converting databases to 4.0 . (i haven't got shell access)

before that all of the databases back ups gave error after the dump.

Now when i convert and dumped them and they are working but now the special Turkish Languages characters are destroyed they are like this.

    Ý >> i (normal one)

    ü >> (normal one)

    .....

is there a way to correct this?

can i find and change all of them via phpmyadmin? is there command on phpmyadmin?

Thank you very much your future responds

    thanks for your replies...
    Kind regards

I guess this is a bit late for your question but I dont think phpmyadmin could do that.

Instead you can dump your database to an .sql file, open it with a text editor and do a Find & Replace, save it and put it back.

I assume that your db is not so big, otherwise you would have trouble.

Why dont you try writing up a code that should replace the characters ( provided you have enough conditions to perform this ) in the .sql file ?
