Registrarstats.com shows the same thing. Close fight between
enom and tucows.

godaddy is going up like crazy. 30,000 domains on 1 day!
i wonder why other registrars never targetted TV or radio for Ads like godaddy do in the US ?

Speaking of Godaddy's commercials, who said that sex did not sell?

This is probably because of all the .info domains that have moved from the Sipence cred. to eNom's own.
Great work, nonetheless though! Pretty soon it'll be eNom & Godaddy as 1 and 2. Netsol is still losing domains fast. See registrarstats.com...

Just a guess but money would probably be the biggest reason. If I recall correctly those superbowl commercials run at around $1,000,000.00 USD/second
Personally I think it was most likely a waste of money for GoDaddy.com
Those people that did know what a domain name was and wanted one would have most likely already heard of GoDaddy.com and/or found them via google. People that didn't know what a domain name was or didn't want/need one got nothing out of it.
That's just one person's opinion though.

Godaddy's names under management are essentially Godaddy's, enom on the otherhand relies on resellers. It only takes a few large ones moving away to cut into their numbers.

$1mil/sec ? there is no way it can be that expensive
i know semi-finals was $400K per 10 or was it 30seconds?
even at $100K/second kinda crazy but i think it worth it.
but $1mil/sec thats insane, maybe 1 minute?

I heard it was $2M for 30 seconds (or $66,666.67 per second)
As for the wisdom of Godaddy's ad, I must disagree with justadollar. Before the ad, every client I spoke with would put all their domain names under my eNom reseller account for $8.95. Since the ad, though, I've had a hard time getting people under my eNom reseller account at $8.95 or even $8.50. Everyone just says "I'll buy it at Godaddy", or "I've already registered my domain at Godaddy...". The secret to cheap domains is out -- unfortunately for those of us who made a few bucks off reselling domains.
