Worst Ads Ever

I found possiblity the wost "pop-up" ads on a site ever.

http://www.avrouk.org.uk/ - Click around for a while.

Every so often an ad will come up, but it wont open another window, it will open right in the window with the site. THEN... it will stop you from pressing the back button.

Its horrible that companies need to sink to this. They think it will make us buy there stuff....

Well with that description I'm not about to go take a look I've come across a new nasty ones in my time though - frameless pop-ups are the worst in my opinion. The ad comes up with no X button to close it, and not even a window you can grab hold of - just a floating ad. Why that makes people think you'll be interested in their business is beyond me.

assuming you are using windows, ctrl+w works perfectly on frameless ads

Of course, an even better solution is to start using Opera 6, which gives all windows frames

Frameless popups are an IE only thing

you seen the ipod ads on buy.com? terrible!

unfortuneatly I belive they are the future of ads. banners are dead, popups piss people off too much, but quick flash ads that appear then go away seem to work well...
