How Much Power does AMD need?

I can't seem to find the requirements on google so I'm wondering if anyone here knows.

    AMD 64 3000+
    AMD Sempron 3000

    Is 300W enough?

300W will be enough to handle those CPU's, but there will be more in the case than that

You have to take into account how many drives, how power hungry they are, are you running PCI Express (video card usually), and CD drives, etc...

Would be pushing it kind of close IMHO. Why not look into something like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817153006

    Cheap and nice

For the Athlon 64s you should have at least 400 watt and at least 24 amps on the 12 volt line. I've never used the Semprons so not so sure about their power requirements.

Don't use cheap power supplies you'll regret it.

I can second the motion to not use cheap power supplies. I made that mistake building 2 personal computers. The cheap power supplies I used were included with the cases I bought, and both failed within days of the 6 month mark.

    AMD SEMPRON 3000
1 GB PC 3200 DDR RAM
    200 GB SATA

It depends on what you are building the machine for, but in general you are not going to notice a difference processor wise. I would go with the cheaper combination of the two.

It's for my cousin for BF2 CSource and educational needs. The problem is that the cost differences are like 10-20 bucks.

The Semprons are in a different class than the P4s. The P4 is going to be much better. The Semprons are comparable to the celerons, here is a benckmark for semprons vs celerons:

If you are using it for games (which I assume is the case due to the graphics cards) and such than the Athlon 64 3000+ is going to run the best and its pretty cheap now:

I built a system with that processor (well socket 754 version) and Radeon 9800 Pro about two years ago and its still kicking today. If you get athlon try to get the newer socket though (socket 939) its better than the 754 socket.
