Shame. I was considering until this was revealed.

I want to offer same services to my EU customers as per US, albeit at slightly higher costs, but not without support for Fantastico.

Not sure, as never had to go direct.

The point is;
- added cost to an already much more expensive solution to equivalent US VPS

- no support with VPS provider, means dealing with diverse support people and methods. Not forgeting the potential for slower resolution to issues and hassle as some 'pass-the-buck' will inevitably happen between VPS provider and Netenberg support.

Will European suppliers ever catch-up with US?

Please note, that the true quality of our services is beyond bundled software, but rather in the performance & stability that the IBM eServer platform provides. Some users are not interested in whether or not their data sits on SCSI 15K (1,200,000hrs MTBF) disk platters, and would rather be on a SATA drive (500,000hrs MTBF) + Fantastico.

We maintain an extremely low VPS to server contention ratio, IIRC I read a post yesterday in the VPS forum where a customer was stating that a competitor advised him that 65 VPS's were stored on a single 4GB server. This is 3X the amount that should be on such a small machine.

On our 4GB servers we provision 8-12 VPS's. (we only have a couple of 4GB machines, most are 6GB or 8GB, we have 16GB machines that run high end VPS's)

Regarding Fantastico, once again I advise you to review the cPanel/Fantastico problems, and do a quick investigation as to the integration problems between the two packages. A cPanel/Fantastico server can be likened to a dog with two heads, one doesn't talk to the other. One decides to update certain parts of the code, whereas the other finds out 'after the fact', thus putting machines & customers out of order.

We strongly advise customers in need of such a Script-solution to look into Plesk w/Application Vault. Both packages come pre-packaged and pre-configured as such from SW-Soft.

Thank you for replying with detailed information.

I have considered a move to Plesk w/Application Vault, but I am in a battle with myself about offering two different solutions for US and EU clients, and cPanel is very popular with end users. WHM/cPanel also makes it simple to move accounts between servers, although I believe Plesk has something to help migration from cPanel?

I have also never had any experience with Plesk, although seems easy to pickup myself, but not sure about clients.

Your hardware setup is definately very appealing.

My other battle is deciding if next VPS should indeed be in EU or remain with US for now. Approx 30% of my clients are from all over EU, and want to offer them the option to switch their sites to an EU server. The problem will be that their cost will need to increase so not sure if many will take up the offer.

Whilst writing this I'm thinking that maybe I should simply send them a survey with prices and details on Plesk application vault, and see how many would be interested, then make my decision.

That only leaves me with one remaining issue; What pricing to adopt, being that your special only lasts for a short time.

I will create and send out my survey this weekend and see what response we get.
