Talking 16 men arrested for walking to work

in zimbabwe 16 men have been arrested for walking 8km to work instead of driving

"They told the police they had no other means of transport because of the fuel crisis but the police said there was plenty of fuel and rounded them up saying they were demonstrating against the government," Mr Zimuto said.

Unbelievable, if not a bit funny because of that.

What is Mugabe ane his government on about.

How the police can say there is no shortage of fuel, there's a shortage of nearly everuthing in ZSimbabwe right now.

I heard only last week that because a shortge of a shortage of fuel, theywere bringing 12 disused Steam Trains back into service to aid transportation for some.

That's not really funny, but a sign of major oppression by the government. Oh well, not surprising, considering the country and government in question.

Foolishness. The government can instantly turn this into good PR, and congratulate the individuals. During a fuel crises they are conserving, even if its in protest, its still conservation, which is something the government should appreciate, respect, and encourage.

That is just one side of the story. I think that it might be a bit one sided and the missed a few things out.
I still think that zimbabwe should still sort everything out, I have a few friends who live there (white farmers) and they are beeing beeten up and things like that. It is just wrong.

Is a democracy still a democracy if you get shot/home destroyed/family killed for voting for the wrong person?

It was actually National Walk to Work Day in Australia today. But it was more aimed at fitness than conserving fuel If your workplace was too far away then walk to the nearest bus stop to catch a bus.

If your citizens believe in it? Probably. Many people have already established that they will die for democracy, as long as the vote is obeyed, its still a democracy (granted not a whatsoever decent one).
