What i can do? if the hosting company lost all my files.
I host on ******.com, but their major hardware failure on one of their storage servers, and they lost all my files. Now my site is down for whole day, and they told me they are unable to restore all of the files that are missing. I Don't have any backup files, i use content management to manage my site. What can i do?

Unfortunately not a thing.
If you don't have your own backups you are pretty much out of luck.

Pray that they still have your database. (Maybe they use separate database servers.) If you've been using a well known CMS (as opposed to a custom made one), if you have the database you should be able to get your site back online in relatively little time. I'm afraid your chances of that happening are slim though.

As other users have suggested, check if the database is seperate. If not, you are out of luck. With every host, the responsibility of backups lies with the users.

Yup. Cry, rebuild, and learn from your mistakes. Even if the host maintains backups for you, business and administrative mistakes can leave you without those. You don't need to be obsessive, but weekly or monthly backups can save you many headaches later on.

Sorry to hear about your problems, better to keep your own backups. Can't do a thing when a company loses files. Good Luck getting your site back online.

Sorry to hear about your troubles. Always keep your own up to date backups, there is nothing you can do now.
Best of luck in the future, hopefully you will learn from your mistakes

Read you TOS and SLA again. Check if it is your responsibility to make backups. If you paid extra for the backup service check what kind of guarantees came with it. If the company made any guarantees ask them for a refund and/or some other form of compansation. If you feel that they do not honor their guarantees and you lost money talk to your lawyer and sue the company. Do not threaten to sue, sue.

Sue for what andren?
What lawyer do you think is going to take this case?
If the files were important enough to sue for do you think they would be on a bargain basement host?
Believe it or not, sueing is virtually never the answer and on this forum it is never smart advice.

well said.
May I suggest investing in backup service plans. Depending on how big the size of your files are, you may just want to purchase a backup storage plan of 5gb+. These plans are fairly cheap and you can backup your files there.

Now see, this is a stupid plan. And it's thinking like this that just perpetuates sue happy people. It is your responsibility to have a backup of your data. Always always always always have a backup of your data. Always. And then, when you have a backup, make another one. Always.
Is my point clear enough? Obviously not because these threads open up almost daily.

Everyone is just about correct, there is really nothing you will be able to do. Just always keep in the back of your head that you should backup at least once a week. Maybe get an alert on your calendar to remind you to backup on a specific day so you will never have a problem with forgetting. That seems to work for some people.
Sorry to hear about all this, and I hope you will have better luck in the future.

In their TOS:
"12.2 - Customer shall be solely responsible for the development, operation, backup, and maintenance of Customer's web site and any online store and e-commerce activities. ****** is not required to keep backups of customer sites or data at any time."
I guess in this case, like everybody else has said, you're SOL.

Learn from your mistakes, I really can’t believe some people don’t backup at all, if your files are too big to download to your home computer, use a remote backup provider, there are many out there and it really isn’t all that expensive.
Good luck with starting your website again.
