Hurricane Relief : Free Back Up Servers

Joining Sago Networks and a number of other providers, has a limited number of servers available for organizations potentially affected by Hurricane Rita.

The servers are Celeron 2.4s, located in Mclean VA. They are pre-installed with Fedora Core 3 and can be available within 4 hours. No modifications or upgrades can be made to these servers at this time.

Servers are free until October 15th. At that time we will assess the situation and contact each organization to make ongoing arrangements if so desired.

Servers are available on a first come first serve basis.

Servers suspected of network abuse will be terminated immediately with no notification.

Please contact us at to order your server.

Thread Summary Please be aware that every offer has limits beyond what is displayed in the thread. You should visit the site advertising and read any Terms of Service or Acceptable Use Policy they have in place. If you can't find answers on how they measure what you're purchasing, ask. If the offer or request doesn't regard some type of hosting, you still need to research beyond what’s printed in the ad.
  • Research any provider to know what limits are in place, especially with any offer concerning disk space and/or bandwidth. These are generally defined in the TOS or AUP.
  • Read provider reviews. If you find no reviews, create a thread and ask for others' first-hand experience with the provider.
  • If you're unsure on the exact details of an offer - ask. Simply respond to this thread and ask the provider for clarification.

How much data transfer is offered on these servers?

We are not imposing strict short term limits on these servers, but they are of course intended to function as back up servers. We sincerely hope that no one will actually *need* to use them to operate their business.

However, in the unfortunate case that people do, we would allow data transfer of up to 750GB per month.
