Please forgive my ignorant question.
When you increase the RAM, do you just increase the memory limit, or do you actually have to reduce the number of customers on the server to accommodate the higher guaranteed memory?

Very good question.

We balance the number of VE's per hardware node based on their RAM and disk allotments. Inevitably if the hardware node has VEs with mostly 256Mb of RAM and above there will definitely be a decrease in the number of VEs per node. For example, a server with 4Gb of RAM should be able to run 16 - 256Mb VEs or 8 - 512Mb VEs efficiently without any RAM sharing.

To answer your question in blunt terms, we decrease the number of VEs per node.

I'm in the early stages of a product development, and I'm thinking about switching to solarVPS, but I don't want to wait 2-3 days for it to be set up. How long would it take to get an Asteroid VPS-NXS set up with Debian?

What control panels do you support on debian?

How many backups can I make from the Virtuozzo(sp) control panel? Is it only limited by space? (My current site limits me to one, even though the backup is only 384mb. It would be nice to have multiple snapshots).

Speaking of backup space. You sell 2 extra gbs of backup space for $3/gb.. which is $6.. or 4 extra for $2/gb (which is $8), or 6gb for $1/gb which is $6.. Why would anyone choose less than 6? It seems like an odd pricing structure to me.

If I have an existing VPS on Virtuozzo(sp) with the same os how hard is it to move? (or should I just start over).

No unfortunately we do not support or allow IRC of any kind.

We do differential backups from Virtuozzo and then we move the backups to a separate backup array. This is done weekly and no more than 2 backups are stored per VPS on the off server backup array. The personal backup space is yours to use as you see fit, however, you do not have access to the VZ backup so you would not be able to store your VZ backup there.

Concerning VPS transfer, it's fairly easy to transfer a VZ VE from one VZ hardware node to another, however, you would need to have Admin access on both host machines to accomplish this. There are some ugly hacks to accomplish a transfer but I wouldn't recommend any of them. If you are using cPanel or Plesk I would recommend using one of the built in control panel transfer methods, otherwise I would say do it manually.
