I just started playing around with Zen Cart today, after discovering it in this forum last night.

I'm finished with the initial install/config and will start working on customizing it this week. I have to say, it's very promsing. I'd just finished setting up an osC storefront and was getting ready to launch. I think that osC is a very good program - especially for the price - but Zen Cart seems to be much more modern in features, functionality and appearance.

Sunshop is the best cart in the world in my opinion. I've used them all, and this is the best, especially for the price (I've seen some almost as good, but they were 2-3 times more expensive). www.turnkeywebtools.com

OSCommerce is HORRIBLE with paypal. Since it does not use IPN, half of the orders that get paid for don't get marked as paid

I just played a bit with the sunshop admin. Very nice and looks like it is well worth the money.

I need to be able to have checkbox and radio button options to choose from with my products. Plus I need to be able to display images next to the options or under them, which I can't see that sunship does yet...

The admin is fantastic!

Yes, that might be a tough feature to find. I know in sunshop you can "add additional images" but not sure if you can plug those in with additional options like you are wanting. You may want to contact them and ask them how you would go about doing that. Sunshop is an absolutely fantastic shopping cart, and I'm sure the support staff will have some answers for you.

The best thing about Zencart is that it's FREE! This is my store if you want to check it out.

Oscommerce has paypal ipn module since 2003. Just goto oscommerce.com and look into contributions.

Zen Cart does it, which is what I use now. Additional images don't cut it. For example, I have a product with 25 different metal finishes and need to show each one with a radio button so the cutomer can choose what they want.

Most all the shopping carts are made assuming you are selling small consumer products. Zen Cart was the closest thing I could find to selling commercial products, but it is still limited for what I do.

Another problem with Zen Cart and all the other shopping carts is they make it difficult to price different options. For example I may have Item X that has 3 different lengths and 3 different colors. The base price is for length A - $10. Length B adds $5 and length C adds $8. But the problem is, the colors cost more for length B and length C, so now I would need to add 3 differnt product to the catalog representing each length or add 9 different options to cover it for one listing. If the program was intellegent enough, it would only need 6 options to cover it because it would know to add more for color 2 if the length is B or add even more for color 3 if lengh is C.

The program could dynamical generate the full sku/model number associated with the options chosen.

I also need much more advance shipping quote generating capabilities than I can find in a cart program. I need to store more packaging informaion and the information may change depending on how many are ordered. I need to store the shipping class code and let customer choose commerical or residential, loading dock or lift gate truck, inside delivery or not?
