As far as dedicated servers, I think it really depends on what you are going to use it for. If you are hosting mainly a php/mysql based site, stick with linux. If you require .net or mssql you're going to have to go MS.

    Hello

You should recognise what do you want to do on your machine.
For hosting you should go with Linux Machines. If you have more advanced requirements like SQL DataBase, Media Streaming -> go with Windows. Remember that linux is cheaper than win, so that will improve your budget status.

    Good Luck !
Hope you can find suitable machine.

Such lies, enterprise servers only move to Oracle when the needs grow as Oracle can handle more users. That doesnt make it "better" though, as for such a fee you expect amazing performance.

I do not talk about little servers like 2 processor xeon or opteron, but machines witho 6 processors, and several SCSI Disks.
There are nothing better than orracle which managed big Data Base System - we do have servers which manage whole company structure - Linux will be not able to do it better ...

For around $100/mo, Many companies provide P4 around 3.0ghz for that budget. Dont get a celeron, that's just wrong.

As others said, it all depends on what app your running on the server. Unless the E-Commerce app your running calls for .NET or MSSQL you should probably go with linux.

With a $110 budget, go Linux, spend your money on a more powerful server instead of the Windows license.

In a general sense it boils down to your requirements and what you are comfortable with.

The Linux vs. Microsoft debate is ages old and will continue on as long as there are intellectual property laws, but the answer has remained the same throughout the discussion.
