Create a bootable CD???

I just found out the copy of Sonic Record Now that came with my DVD burner cannot make a bootable CD. Ya' a basic function which I'd have to pay for which is BS if you ask me...

Anyway, I need to create one bootable CD but since RecordNow cant do it, does anyone know of a way to create a bootable CD or another free program to create a bootable CD? I have a floppy disk prepped with the stuff I need on it, and other items will be added after I make the CD bootable.

I'm not going to upgrade RecordNow just so I can make one bootable CD, and Roxio crashes on install (hang then BSOD), and when it was installed, couldnt burn DVD-RWs.

So, can someone recommend a freeware CD burner software?

Ya, I could google, but google cant recommend anything that may not have spyware, virus or just trash software. I'm looking for a personal recommendation.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the link CTG...

I checked it out but despite what the site says there is no "create a boot image from a bootable floppy. To do that, press the "floppy image" button." presnt anywhere in the installation that I have. It only gives me an option to load a pre-existing image. See attachement...

Still looking forward to recommendations.

It doesn't look like even my work's $99 copy of Nero 6.0 does that. So I'm at a loss for further suggestions, since even the grand daddy of all burning software (IMO) doesn't do it.

Maybe tell us a little more about your project, and somebody might know a workaround. For example there is a trick to make some CDs boot off a USB memory stick.

I'm creating a CD/DVD project which contains installers for various windows versions and at present, I have a floppy disk that I have to use before I can use the installers located on the CDs. I'd like to slipstream this procedure and put my boot disk on a CD, since the fact that newer machines dont have floppies, and the floppy drive is unbearably slow.

The floppy disk has a tweaked plain DOS environment on it which I always use when installing windows from DOS (ie, machine format, recovery, cleanup, etc). Plus it has some other neat little goodies on it that (BIOS flashing utilities, etc).

I'd like to have this environment that I've been using with no issue for the past 4 years on a CD. Much safer, faster, & less likely to screw up compared to a floppy disk.
