Buying Expired Domain Names... [HELP]
Hi guys,
I am curious how I can get a hold of a expired domain name FIRST.
I have been recentely watching the expired domain name lists, and it seems there are SEVERAL good domains that come availible every day (by good I mean three letter .com names), but I get the list at 9.03 am central time every day, and I check the domain names I want to buy and they show up as registered YESTERDAY, every day that I get the list.
Example, this morning August 19, 2005 (Friday) at 9:03 am central, I got this list:
Quote:
dm0.com
e9u.com
e9x.com
fq0.com
gu0.com
gz0.com
h1r.com
h7n.com
j0a.com
j0u.com
|
but these domains became availible YESTERDAY and were all bought immediately.
How can I know what domains are JUST about to become availible, a day in advance, instead of a day late? Also, what is the BEST backordering website (best means FASTEST and most likely to get the domain for me, inexpensive helps but #1 is speed).
Thanks in advance.

Domains drop everyday at 11am Pacific Time (Los Angeles). Most drop services have a deadline of 10am Pacific Time to enter in your requests / bids.
Most drop places have accurate lists. You can try ClubDrop, SnapNames, NameWinner and Pool. Pool has an advanced search that lets you limit the number of characters: http://www.pool.com/viewlist.aspx?ia...sdeletingtoday so that might help you find those three character domains.
Most places have lists with domains expiring in the next 5 days.
Good Luck!

I would say cancel your subsciption to the list provider for starts. You can get droplists for free and instead of telling you what has droped you will know whats going to drop. For .com .net .biz and .us use enom.com's lists which are free if you have a resellers account. Use pool.com for .org .info .
As far as backordering goes thats a tough one to answer. Alot of the registrars are auctioning off their own such as tdnam.com for godaddy, snapnames for netsol, etc. As far as getting them first goes you will need to be the one with the biggest bank account.
Another newbie mistake is the domains you listed are three CHARACTER domains not three LETTER. Big difference in the two when it comes time to make a profit.
Goodluck in your long journey ahead in an everchanging industry.

I guess I missed that part of your question. I rank the drop services on effectiveness as: Pool, SnapNames, eNom's ClubDrop, NameWinner, and, finally, GoDaddy. Those are the ones I use.
Their effectiveness is largely a function of the number of registrars that they use. You can see who works for who at: http://www.whois-search.com/deleting/who.php

thanks, any more useful info?
About the CHARACTER instead of LETTER, I could care less, I would LOVE to get 3 LETTER .com's and .net's but to be honest, that's not likely to happen, so I'll settle for anything, lol.... I'm such a cheapo

oh, here's another question you guys probably saw coming, knowing me.... lol, as for when the money is tight budgeted, what is the best/cheapest way to "backorder", or is backordering not neccessary with some registars, meaning can I login to the net at that time of day and place my order by hand, or will backorders definately beat me to it for 3 LC .com ?

You could probably buy them on the boards for cheaper than you could backorder them. I personally think the odds are pretty slim that a company by the name of e9x will ever come along looking for e9x.com but thats a gamble lots of people are taking. In a case such as this when it comes to resell ability size truely does matter.

I have never tried to get three character domains but I'm assuming they are all backordered when they drop and in this case no you won't be able to beat the drop catchers. Again your best bet is to buy from those who have already wasted their money on them for most likely cheaper than you could backorder them now.
Some may perceive that just because they are all registered it gives them some sort of a value but how do you have a value in something that you will never profit from? As I said e9x will most likely never come along and how many people do you think type this into their browser to earn ppc revenue? If you are planning to build on such a name how many people are going to take a company seriously who calls themselves e9x?
