Hey server gurus, help with .htaccess file.

Hi experts. What exactly do I have to type in the .htaccess file to redirect www.mysite.com to www.mysite.com/forum for now. I have root access (VPS). I have tried the following but doesn't work.

redirect / http://www.mysite.com/forum
redirect www.mysite.com/forum
redirect www.mysite.com http://www.mysite.com/forum
redirect http://www.mysite.com http://www.mysite.com/forum

Yes, my host allows .htaccess files.

Thanks in advance!

Try this:

Code:
DirectoryIndex index.html
Redirect /index.html http://www.mysite.com/forum/
Try putting a blank "index.html" file in your public_html directory if required.

Thanks Voidhosting and Karthick for your help! I followed the link of voidhosting http://www.javascriptkit.com/howto/htaccess6.shtml and found what I thought was the problem, then came Karthick and confirmed it. Yes, I tried

Redirect /index.htm http://www.myste.com/forum and it worked!

Problem solved! Thanks again guys!
