Conjugal visits for prisoners
Are you for it or against it?
Those in favor say that by providing conjugal visits, inmates are more likely to have lower recidivism rates and are easier to manage while serving their sentences.
Those in the opposite camp are firmly opposed to it, maintaining that prison means punishment, and all rights are lost when in prison. No exceptions.
How do you feel about it?

I am against it. You play a punk and get sent away... no benefits. Period. Besides, they have Bubba.

Hehe, I knew Bubba would come up in the thread. I just didn't figure it would be in the first reply.

Last I checked 57% of people in Federal prison were in there for drug charges. I don't think getting high means you should give up getting laid.

I think that according to B.F. Skinner's theory, if we're trying to teach people to stop using drugs then it does mean making them give up getting laid if they get high.

Seriously, though, it comes down to what rights you feel inmates should not lose while in prison. It comes down to your opinion on how severe punishment should be for a criminal.
Some will insist that you should implement rehabilitative measures to increase the chances of a "reformed" person upon release from prison.
Others claim that prison should be all about hard punishment.
Honestly, I can see/appreciate merits in both. But I lean towards the "tough" discipline. Prison shouldn't be a picnic. It should be a strong and unwavering punishment.

Ahh, but *why* they are in prison is a different matter IMHO. As long as they break the law, are found guilty and sentenced to prison, they are prisoners for their term. Not in a care center with sexual rights at taxpayers expense, but prison. End of story in my opinion.
Who should be in prison, and for what is a different issue.

I think prison should be as awful as possible, without causing physical or emotional harm...and even under those guidelines, I think it'd have to be proved that they were actually harmed.
This includes, no TV whatsoever, once a month visits from family for 1 hour, basic food items (no snacks, desserts, etc.) and confined to their cell (basic essentials only) for most of that time with books. Their non-cell time should be spent working. I don't care if the person is in prison for jay-walking...prison is prison and should make a person think twice about EVER wanting to go there. Too often prison ends up being better than what the inmate has on the outside.
Conjugal visits?!? No way.

I believe that there should be conjugal visits, for one simple reason is that I think it would cut down on the ammount of "Bubbas" There are plenty of people in prison that have done crimes that are not murder/rape/molestation that are in there for smaller crimes like Drugs, having weapons, theft, fraud, etc.. yes they are criminals, but if you let Bubba get a conjugal, these "Lesser" criminals won't have to feel Bubbas wrath, and don't deserve to feel it either..

I think the same way Tina! They get it way to good now, and it is very sad when someone wants to get into jail or prison for better food or sleep. Make it hell for them and make them pay for the crime that they made. I do not pay my taxes so that they can have all these goodies that some people who work their *** off for do not even have.

Maybe if prison was not a nice place to be, there wouldn't be so many drugs/weapons/theft/fraud/etc. because people would be really terrified of going there. Maybe the amount of people in prison would decline and then we'd be able to afford to hire enough guards to monitor the "bubbas" and that wouldn't happen.
Prison overcrowding is a serious problem in this country. We should actively make it a place no one wants to end up.
