Hosting plans with PHP5?

The current host for my sites is jiffynet.net and they have the latest version of php4. I asked them when they would be upgrading to php5 since I'm learning how to use php with mysql right now and most of the books on the subject teach php5. I noticed that most other hosts only have php4 also. Is there a reason for this. I know the upgrade is not necessary right now, but I was just wondering.

Also the hosting plans I'm looking at have a price between $20 and $30 yearly. jiffynet has yet to reply and I don't think they ever will. I'm also thinking about switching to someone with some actual customer service.

Hi,

If you do a search on WHT you might find some php5 hosts or try using the host quote feature requesting php5 host, good luck.

I know that many of the programs in (like the ones in Fantastico , Plesk application...... ) do not support PHP 5 at the moment so I think that many hosts will wait for more apps support.

For now %90 of hosts will not upgrade due to fantastico, sql and other problems that will come with the upgrade. I have no idea who is useing php5 as yet.

Good luck.
