    Cogent and HE provider

Anyone know any "respectable" providers (not FDC style providers) that have multihomed Cogent and HE BW? I'm looking for a low cost file serving solution, so pings and speeds are not important as such (dont want people to dl at like 100kbps, as speeds will be limited server side as well).

Alternatively, can anyone list some Cogent & HE providers that dont oversell thier BW to such extremes as OF & FDC.

Why not go up to HE? They have a great deal running.

Just avoid HE.net in Texas - The routing to the east coast frequently is routed through San Jose, CA from Dallas, making things lag , increasing ping times, and causing packetloss (right now, for example). Cogent on the other hand, is very good in Texas.

I've said it many times before on this board, and it's worth mentioning again. HE isn't clued enough to run a GSR-based network, in fact, very few entities are (see: Wiltel). There's a reason why everyone upgraded to Junipers. Cogent is rather an exception, as they're owned in part by Cisco, and obviously receive some top-notch support as a result of being in bed with them. As for HE, there's no telling who Reid and crew are in bed with these days. It seems to me that their network is comprised of whatever they can buy off of eBay (and then there are also the rumors of stolen linecards in their routers.. but hey, i'm definitely not one for rumors!)

My advice: roll with the killers that resell Cogent in a non-oversubscribed manner. I think you'll be very happy with it. Meanwhile I'm still seeing 800msec to HE in fremont. *sigh*
