We're going to Williamsburg, VA Saturday morning (the whole family), and I'm curious if anyone here has gone?
This will be my first time, and I'm semi-excited... mostly about the shopping. I don't know if I am the only guy who totally loves going to those discount outlets they have at those places and getting killer deals on Wilsons Leather Jackets, etc, etc..?
We'll be there a week (so I won't be able to bless you guys with my posts, haha)..and we'll be hitting up Busch Gardens and whatever the Water Park is a couple days.. got 4 day Park Hopper tickets. We'll also probably spend atleast 1 day roaming around and exploring and really just seeing what it was like "back then" since they've preserved it so well (so I've read).
I know we're also going to see the show "Cry Witch" which supposedly is really great. I'm looking forward to that and the shopping, because unfortunately, I've never been a roller-coaster fan! (Sad, I know... if that makes you gasp.. brace yourself: I also don't drink alcohol, or coffee!).
Have any of you guys been there, done any of these things, had a good time, etc? I'd like to hear about your experiences and/or recommendations for while we are there.
Historic Williamsburg is cool but I think it's overpriced (I have friends that disagree). It has a blacksmith and other kind of authentic things you can go watch and see the way they were done.
Being a wisecrack, I constantly would say "There were no electric lights in Colonial times, hence there are no electric lights at Colonial times." (Like in the Cable Guy)
My friends and I weren't willing to pay the money to see all the cool stuff so I can't comment on how cool it would be if we had paid but it was kind of neat walking around in an authentic colonial village.
