Toilet paper - over or under?

I forget where I read it (a few years ago), but the article reported that people who load their toilet paper coming over the top are "smarter" than people who load it coming off the bottom.

Since I was a kid, I have always loaded it over the top. In fact, if I ever went somewhere and the roll came off the bottom, I would take the time to change it to come over the top (a querk I have).

I know, a friviolous thread. But to some people (eg., me), it's an important issue.

Wow, what you find on WHT these days.

Going out the bottom, never had it up top.

Or even the middle... I have always found it logical to load toilet paper going over the top. Not entirely sure why it's so logical but it always seemed the normal way to me.

Over the top simply makes the most sense as it maximizes the pullability and neatness factor by at least 10.

Can't stand my TP to be under; has to be over. I will change it if it isn't "right"

You know what REALLY bugs me? When someone starts a new roll and just puts it on top of the empty tube instead of on the spindle.

Over. It's easier to grab, otherwise the TP is ~1" from the cabinet wall.

I prefer to keep it off the spindle, it's faster but got to hate it when it falls in the sink.

My fiancee gets upset when it's off the spindle. I don't think it matters if it's over or under, but it's gotta be on the spindle. (at least this is what my people have learned so far from our peace talks with her people)

It has to be over and I am the same way if someone puts in on WRONG I have to fix.. But truly if you look at the design of the Two-ply bathroom tissue the only logical way is to go over the top. If you go from the bottom the softer side gets folded the wrong way and it is not as soft.

I think there should be a law of some sort to protect us from this.

That must be true, because that's how our toilet paper hangs.

I was going to say that same thing but more that when you see a TV commercial about it all they do it talk about how strong it is and soft it is.. I mean how strong does it really need to be?? Enough to hold 10 hotwheels while it is soaking wet?

They need to show a guy eating tacos and then heading to the bathroom and coming out with a big smile. okay no one ever asked me to write TV commercials for some reason

When we were renovating our first home, there was no toilet paper holder for a while, and the paper just sat on the floor. The Mrs was on me for weeks to buy the toilet paper holder, and so much so that she went out and bought one and installed it herself. I was getting around to it . . . . eventually.

Over the top here. And, if at home, I will change it if it is "wrong". Logically, for the ease of use, and to save time, over the top is the only way to go.

Class Action Suit.. For the past 35+ years I have been shoving that stuff up my nose since there was no directions on the packaging. I am suing!!!

I remember those "Cormatic" TP. They only go one way, although I've seen a co-worker modify the roll to make fit the other way...

To me tissue paper is supposed to roll out over the top. It's not a matter of preference, having it the other way is just wrong!

Also I can never use it if it's coming out from the bottom, I will take the roll out and roll it over my hands instead.

You left off one option: It sits on the floor of the bathroom because your wife is too lazy to replace the roll!

Generally speaking if I'm concentrating on it I put the toilet paper roll on with it rolling from the top but if, like today in fact, I put it on and its backwards I really don't care. I've found the paper still seems to work both ways incredibly. What an invention!

Forgot to say we use baby wipes, much more cost efficient if you consider the fact that you don't waste half the roll to clean your behind.

Baby wipes are awesome. I bring them with me when I go to the field. It's amazing how clean you feel. You can be covered with grime and dust but then you go number 2 and use a baby wipe and you feel clean as a whistle. What an invention!
