My forums have been down ALL day. I get a phpBB critical error (cannot connect to database). My homepage works fine. I've been emailing them all day without a response. Anyone knwo what the heck is going on here? This is NOT acceptable!
Do you have a static IP for your website or is it on Virtual Hosting? If static give us the IP... Regardless with even virtual hosting we could run a ping/tracert for starters .. If you have your MYSQL DB's ip addy or location that would help as well ...

Either the Sql server is down or your settings have changed. Try going through your config.php and make sure everything is right. Then check yourdomain.com/cpanel and see if the sql server is on line via the server status.
If not contact your host and explain the situation.

THey havent answered one email at all.
Sounds like it could be a DNS issue of some sort, are you running everything based on numerical ip's or domain names? If numerical IP's than it is something else.. If domain names, I would put a guess as to DNS Server problems.
How many DNS servers do they have.. and have you changed your personal settins to their DNS server to see if you can connect to the web and resolve sites properly ?

Any Table cells with a RED background colour are problem areas. Might help you to figure out what is wrong or, at least be able to tell your Hoster where the problems are.
You know you are a Reseller if you have two control panels, or can create Hosting packages for others. Does sound like a communication problem and, if they don't update Clients on what's going on or reply to eMails, the communication problem is not on the Client's part.

Nothing works now. My homepage stopped working also shortly after, so both have been down for 2 days now.
I did that Rob, and got this:
NS FAIL NS A timeout occurred getting the NS records from your nameservers! None of your nameservers responded fast enough. They are probably down or unreachable. I can't continue since your nameservers aren't responding. If you have a Watchguard Firebox, it's due to a bug in their DNS Proxy, which must be disabled. .
I received a message on their Perl site from 24hostingnow.com yesterday, 24 hours after (helpfully) complaining to them about problems similar to yours. They claim that this is the result of problems with the server move. I'd reprint it, but their Perl site appears to be currently down. I'm afraid that since moving their customer service/tech to India, it has been quite awful. Last week (before the server move) I was unable to receive any emails for a couple of days and (as a non-techie) pretty much had to sit in front of my computer for two days and handhold a borderline insulting tech staff who repeatedly refused to believe a problem actually existed. When they finally got around to "fixing" it, they managed to duplicate about 500 of my web emails (and not consecutively!), which are going to be a pain in the *** to remove (as I don't trust them to do it). After repeated (and I do mean repeated) requests and a complaint to the CEO, I was given 50 gb more disc sapce to help with the slowness caused by the extra emails. If I hadn't complained to the CEO, I'm sure nothing would ever have been fixed.
I, too am looking for other options for hosting, but there's not much I can do about moving my webmail if I can't even access their site...
I might also add that all emails to my domain are bouncing back to the senders without adequate information, which is also going to make my life Hell. And during those brief times when I can access my webmail, I've noticed that certain emails have gone missing. Don't know if those will be coming back.
Also, early in this problem, I found I could get different levels of access to my webmail by using different browsers. Safari gave me access to emails I couldn't receive through Explorer, though could not retrieve the missing emails. Haven't checked recently to see if this is still the case.
And when I attempt to connect to their PerlDesk, I now get this message:
Fatal Installation Error
Sorry, PerlDesk was unable to establish a connection with the database. Please check that you have set the variables in the conf.cgi file correctly
include/conf.cgi - Unable to establish database connection

Some of my sites are up, some are not. cPanel somewhat works and WHM has everything screwy. None of the size numbers are correct, they all read zero size and some sites just arent plain listed. I've done my best to get ahold of them.....I'm waiting one more day before I do anything drastic. I would just love some communication!
I've also had very patchy use of my 3 websites since Sunday onwards. Email, ftp and whm have not worked since Monday. Very unhappy at the poor service and lack of support offered so I am now looking at alternative hosting arrangements.
Sounds like a nightmare over there, hope things return back to normal soon. Their main website though still is up and loading pretty quickly.

I've been with 24hostingnow for some time. When I first signed up, the support was excellent. Less than 10 minute support times, competent techs, minimal down time.
Over the last 6-8 months or so, this has changed. Support times are 1hr+ at the minimum. All the old support staff seem to have disappeared (Alice, etc), and have been replaced by what sounds to be Indian outsourcers. Virtually every support request results in a cycle where the claim the problem is fixed, you reply that it hasn't, they do something else and say its fixed, and this repeats a few times until it is finally fixed.
Another trend I've noticed (even before the change of techs), is that they do not seem to be very proficient with Apache. I have a few dynamic SSI things that happen on my site, and anytime they upgrade, move the servers, etc, it will always stop working. During support tickets for these issues, they have replaced carefully coded .htaccess files with basic default stubs, and then claim that the problem is fixed. In fact, not only does it not fix the problem, it breaks everything else. They are just sloppy.
As many of you know, the problems began to peak when they left their original datacenter and moved. They have blamed everything on this. In an email a few months ago, it was suggested that they would be getting space at the NAC (where they were before), and they would allow customers to move onto a server there for an optional charge. While no mention of this has been made since then, I think it is terribly unethical to charge existing customers a fee to cover the host's own screwups. I made this very clear in the response I sent to them.
Another move, another catastrophe. The worst part about this, is I have an alternate host (Liquidweb), that I have had an account with since the last big downtime several months ago. The only reason I haven't moved my site there yet is that it is being redesigned, and I'd rather just put the new site there and then switch the domain, than to have done it then and upgraded. Now, I don't think I have a choice. I just want to get my logs and run.
Sorry if this seems like a long rant, but I've given 24hostingnow one chance to many. I'm patience, and I'm losing money. Did I mention that their last email to me before the move promised that there would be absolutely no down time. Sigh...
All majors issues have been fixed and your sites are up and working now. I
will soon give an explanation of what happend.
All the best,
Director of Strategy and Development

Well, I have found that I can finally access my webmail again (for the time being). It is slooowwwwww, though. And the missing emails have not returned. Even worse. I did a search on a friend's name to get her email address and found that the bodies of all of her emails have disappeared. Could this be because they were Hotmail attachments? It's all screwed up.
Chris, i'd agree with everything you said. A year ago they really were a great host and the online live support was fantastic. Recently though the service really has went drastically downhill. Whenever I contacted support i'd always be told that the problem would not happen again but it always did. I've also had all those emails claiming great things.
As of 11:42am ET, it is still not working right, despite what they are claiming. I just went into hotmail, and sent an email to five of my domain email acounts (lets say [email protected], name2@, etc...). All of them bounced back. Every single one.
In Outlook 2003, I can check my mail without getting any errors at all, but I don't get mail (for the previously stated reason).
I think we should all start a collection fund to get these guys a few copies of Apache for Dummies or Learn Apache in 24 Hours.
Any immedate fix woud be nice. But at this point, I don't even care about that. I want honesty. If they totally hosed everything (not an unlikely scenario with them these days) and it will take three days to fix, just tell us. I much rather hear that, then to be told it is fixed repeatedly when really nothing is working.
In the 22 hours since I've opened a support ticket, I have been told four times that the problem has been resolved and everything should be fine. I want 24hostingnow, not 24hostingeventually.
the email problem will be fixed in the next 2 hours. I know how hard it was... being without email, please give us this time to fix this issue and prove ourselfs that support will get better.
I really feel that we own you an explanation of what really caused these troubles and we will keep you updated. Please check your emails for our updates soon.
For once more, please accept our apologies and we do promise that we will set up a new risk management plan which will improve the communication with our customers when our site is down and will also improve the speed of our techs in resolving problems.
We learnt from our mistakes and we look forward in the future to improve our support response time as it used to be in the past and earn your trust back again! Please give us some time and things will get better.
