I've been searching, with no luck, for a tutorial on backing up one hard drive to another with rsync and cron. This will be a linux server. I would like it to just do difs nightly after it does a full backup once. I would like the OS and all databases to be backed up also if possible.
I personally prefer XFS - I'm running and have configured quite a few servers on that filesystem - there was never any permanent crash, even though servers were often hard reset - there was even no data loss because of it.
It also has nice set of backup related tools (xfsdump) with incremental backup capability - in connection with ssh it can be quite good solution even for backup on remote hosts.
