transfer a big file, pelase help

hi everyone
I know this is old topic, but i have tried few time, none of them work for me.

Here is the step i used to transfer a big account (60gb) to other server:
#/scripts/pkgacct ACCOUNTNAME&

#ftp 204.xxx.xxx.xxx

#put /home/cpmove-USER***.tar.gz cpmove-USER***.tar.gz

then it gave me this:
Code:
ftp> put /home/cpmove-USER***.tar.gz cpmove-USER***.tar.gz
local: /home/cpmove-USER***.tar.gz remote: /home/cpmove-USER***.tar.gz
227 Entering Passive Mode (204,11,96,18,141,215).
150 Opening BINARY mode data connection for cpmove-USER***.tar.gz
226 Transfer complete.
31218 bytes sent in 0.021 seconds (1.5e+03 Kbytes/s)
ftp>
Did i do something wrong ?

Do you have ssh root access to both servers?

Try using scp if you do

bash#scp -r /home/ root@192.168.0.2:/home

If you are not copying a directory then get rid of -r and put the path to the filename.

The first /home will need to be changed to where your cpmove file is located.

The root@192.168.0.2:/home will need to be changed to correct ip and location on new server.

hi there

i used this

#scp /home/cpmove-USER***.tar.gz USER***@204.xx.xx.xx:/home

then it gave me this message:

Code:
@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
@ WARNING: REMOTE HOST IDENTIFICATION HAS CHANGED! @
@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
IT IS POSSIBLE THAT SOMEONE IS DOING SOMETHING NASTY!
Someone could be eavesdropping on you right now (man-in-the-middle attack)!
It is also possible that the RSA host key has just been changed.
The fingerprint for the RSA key sent by the remote host is
d0:97:ab:fa:5a:da:5c:69:99:19:cf:9b:0c:f6:49:ed.
Please contact your system administrator.
Add correct host key in /root/.ssh/known_hosts to get rid of this message.
Offending key in /root/.ssh/known_hosts:1
RSA host key for 204.xx.xx.xx has changed and you have requested strict checking.
Host key verification failed.
lost connection
any idea ? Thanks

how big is cpmove-USER***.tar.gz ? 60gb? or smaller due to compression?

I am assuming that when you executed this command you were using a another username besides root. Try using root instead or try making sure that the username has ssh access.

Ok, considering we are having all this trouble, im going to offer a really simple way to do it. That is, if you have apache installed and on (assume u do with the cpanel). Move the file into your default www area (the one apache defaults to when there is no website configured at that address). Then from the other server, wget the file.

No its not the secure way to do things, but we are wasting time
